Pulled off a fleecing in fantasy basketball.. for me it was basically Nash for O’Neal and Ellis considering i picked J.R. Smith off waivers three days ago..

A: Nice Ball, Tyler. Interesting move.

Fantasy Basketball is very unique. Unlike all other fantasy sports, you can most closely build a “team”. Unlike football where you have a “team defense” or baseball where the pitching categories and offensive categories are separate altogether, in basketball you really need to develop a cohesive unit to take home the gold. You need a mix of scorers and role players to win, much like the real thing.

On the surface, you fleeced your trading counterpart. I have J.R. Smith in my league, and he is inconsistent. He is on fantasy rosters because he can hit the 3-ball, and on occasion puts up a big game points wise. The guy averages 12PPG, but not much else. We all know Nash is a stud, but if you got Smith off waivers, I like the way you evaluated the deal. Nash for O’Neal and Ellis.

Let’s look at your end:

Like J.R. Smith, I had O’Neal (my 2nd round draft choice). I recently traded him, most likely fleecing myself, because I was scared of his knee injury. That being said, in his three games since returning from knee issues, he has had some big games (Averaging 21 PPG and 12 RPG).  He also gives you blocks, which is key. Monta Ellis is a very underrated player. Most people don’t know much about him unless they play fantasy basketball. The guy drops about 17 PPG, picking 4 RPG and 3 APG.

In order to evaluate the trade accurately, I would really need to see team rosters to see who the back-ups were for each squad in the positions that were swapped. That being said, on the surface, IF Jermaine O’Neal remains healthy (it’s a big IF), you dominated this deal.

  1. O’Neal being healthy is definitely the key to the deal, and the games he put up coming back was probably the only way i made the deal. When i saw the game he had last night, and the game Monta Ellis had the night before, I knew this was a definite fleecing though. I have Chris Paul, Devin Harris, and recently picked up Sebastian Telfair as my PG,s. Troy Murphy and Rasheed Wallace are the only two current Centers on my team, which is why i put Nash on the block looking for a Center.
He proposed a trade, trying to fleece me, I proposed one back trying to fleece him, he then countered with the trade we made, and I couldn’t turn it down..

  2. If that’s the case, you’ve made a smart move. Chris Paul and Devin Harris make you strong at PG, Nash was expendable. You needed the big man, nice ball.

  3. Let the record show that I recently FLEECED Mr. Fleece for Jermaine O’Neal in our league.

  4. What was the full deal??
