Andruw Agrees with Dodgers
Update: FoxSports is now reporting the deal is worth $36.2M over two years and contains a no-trade clause. The extra $0.2M makes this a higher average annual value than Torii Hunter’s fleece.
So the reports of 2 years from LA to Andruw Jones were not wrong to begin with. Andruw Jones has fallen short in his bid for a long-term deal, as he has agreed to sign a 2-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers worth $36 million, according to the LA Times.
His annual base salary is on par with the $18 million Torii Hunter received from the Angeles, but due to his poor 2007 season he has been forced to sign just a 2 year deal. Scott Boras fleeced in this one, as he had been seeking $100+ million.
Andruw is set to earn $9 million in 2008, $15 million in 2009, with a $12 million signing bonus. Signing bonus huh? Nice deal for LA. Interesting…

Everybody expects an Andruw Jones rebound to be imminent. And besides, LA can afford it. Good signing.
I totally agree. This was a real solid signing.
Interestingly, this deal makes Andruw a free agent right around the time players like Damon, Matsui, and Manny could be leaving the yanks and sox. Nice ball, Boras.
The Dodgers are now my second my favorite team.. though they already kinda were. Friend of mine pitched for Inland Empire this year, Javy Guerra, who aslo went to school with Austin Jackson at the high school cross town from mine..
