Heyman Weighs in on Thursday Happenings
Posted on December 6th, 2007 by Old Navy King
SI.com’s Jon Heyman gives us the latest from the Winter Meetings:
- Heyman says that the Twins are holding up all other possible trades (Haren, Blanton, Bedard), because teams are waiting to see where Johan Santana ends up first
- The Mets package for Santana is led by OF prospect Carlos Gomez and RHP Mike Pelfrey, among others; Yankees offered Hughes, Melky and pitching prospect Jeff Marquez; Red Sox have offered Lester, Crisp, Lowrie and Masterson; and the Mariners have offered a package that includes OF Adam Jones and P Brandon Morrow… Rangers and Dodgers are also believed to be in the mess… er, mix
- The Dodgers signing of Andruw Jones may make either Matt Kemp or Andre Ethier expendable
- No truth to the rumors of the Tigers trying to deal Dontrelle Willis or Pudge Rodriguez
- Who the Tigers *would* consider trading however: Inge, Thames, Robertson, and perhaps even JeremyBonderman
- Brewers and Astros are among teas bidding for Eric Gagne, who would like to close next season
- Jason Bay to Indians deal is dead
- There has been “decent groundwork laid” between the D-Backs and A’s regarding a possible trade for Danny Haren
- D-Backs, Royals, Mariners and Dodgers are all bidding on Japanese pitcher Hiroki Kuroda, and the offers are expected to reach around $15 a year - FLEECE ANYONE?!?!
