Off-Field Fleeces: Gofer Hits Jackpot, Lands Jessica Alba
This is a new feature here at MLB Fleece Factor, which will deal with fleeces that occur off the diamond, and out of GM’s offices and owner’s boxes. Everyone knows that fleeces can occur in our daily lives, or the lives of others. This segment will attempt to bring to light, or expose, such ”off-field” fleeces.
Our first foray into this feature will deal with something that may infuriate many readers, or possibly give them hope, depending on how they look at things? As you all may know by now, Hollywood hottie Jessica Alba, 26, is pregnant with her first child. People.com reported this story on December 12, 2007. What lucky man was fortunate enough to plant his seed in Alba, you may ask? It must be some heir of an oil tycoon, or some Hollywood heart-throb, right? You might think that, but you’d be horribly mistaken. The winner of the Alba Jackpot is Cash Warren, 28, a director’s assistant who Jessica met in 2004 while working on the set of ”Fantastic Four.” The dude gets coffee and dougnuts for people, and maybe even ties their shoes. I don’t know, maybe he changes the toilet paper rolls in the actor’s trailers too? I can’t say for sure. But going from Hollywood movie gofer to the father of Jessica Alba’s child, is the baseball equivalent of trading Andy Phillips and getting Albert Pujols and $10M in cash in return. Alba makes a 7-figure payheck per movie, and um, has significant additional assets. She ranked #2 on Maxim’s “Hot 100″ list of 2007. The two are now seen cozying up around L.A., and seen court-side at Lakers’ games. As if Warren didn’t have it good enough already, right…
The odd thing is that US Magazine had reported back in July of 2007 that the two had broken up, much to the applause of guys around the world (great to have an imagination). Alba cold-heartedly dumped the dude over the phone, and sent an assistant over to the house they shared to help move him out. Ouch! So how did he weasle his way back in, and manage to impregnate her just months later? Well that, my friends, is what FLEECES are made of!

[…] Q & A with Baseball America’s Jim Callis Posted on January 25th, 2008 by Old Navy King MLB Fleece Factor recently had the privilege of conducting a question and answer session with Jim Callis of Baseball America. Mr. Callis is a relative prodigy on all things prospect-related. He is also a frequent chat contributer over at ESPN.com. Each year, Jim Callis, along with other Baseball America contributers, produce the “bible” of baseball prospects, appropriately titled the Prospect Handbook. It is a must-read for every baseball enthusiast looking to learn more about their teams farm system, and those of their rivals. As an aside, Callis is a huge fan of the Fox hit show “24″, playing Madden, and obviously Jessica Alba. […]
