Dodgers sign Takashi Saito

According to Tony Jackson of the LA Daily News, the Los Angeles Dodgers have come to terms with closer Takashi Saito on a 1-year deal, reported to be worth $2 million. The contract also includes another $200,000 in performance bonuses.

Saito, 38, was paid a base salary of $1 million during the 2007 season. He managed a 2-1 record, 1.40 ERA, incredible 0.72 WHIP and a .151 BAA. He has saved an impressive 85 games for the Dodgers the last 2 seasons, and shows no signs of slowing down despite his age. After the 2008 season, Saito will be arbitration eligible.
