Marlon Byrd to Cubs Still Alive?
According to T.R. Sullivan at MLB.com, the Chicago Cubs are still talking to the Texas Rangers about a possible trade for outfielder Marlon Byrd. The Cubs continue to be searching for a right-handed compliment in center to prospect Felix Pie, and are still dangling Matt Murton as trade bait. But the Rangers are looking for young pitching instead, and so far the Cubs haven’t bit.
Byrd commented on the rumors by saying, “It’s still on my mind. Until somebody comes up to me and tells me that it’s dead, it’s still on my mind. If something comes up that makes sense and helps the team, I’m sure that [Daniels] will pull the trigger. He knows what he’s doing. But if it doesn’t help the Rangers, I’m sure he won’t do it.” But Rangers manager Ron Washington is a big supporter of Byrd, and wants him around. Byrd figures into the Rangers starting lineup, as noted here in our Rangers team outlook.

please please please trade him for anything. Murton is more then fine.
Yeah, if I’m a Ranger fan, I’d much rather have Matt Murton than Marlon Byrd. This is a stupid trade for Chicago if they pull the trigger. Same goes for the Brian Roberts trade.
