Cafardo Rumors: Alou, Weaver, Sox, Crede, Fuentes, Lee

Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe delivers some knowledge down to all of us:

  • Mets GM Omar Minaya thinks that Moises Alou will be back much sooner than most people think. He is still, however, looking to add a right-handed hitting OF/1B.
  • Said Boras about his client Jeff Weaver, “There’s been a lot of interest. Pitching is starting to go down around the league and we’re trying to assess exactly where Jeff’s best opportunity would be.”
  • As per Cafardo, “Kyle Snyder, Julian Tavarez, and Bryan Corey are among the most scouted pitchers in the American League. One or all could be moved before the start of the season.”
  • White Sox GM may just hold onto Joe Crede until some team gets more desparate at the beginning of the season; the Giants are still scouting him.
  • The Phillies are looking for both a lefty reliever (they have J.C. Romero, currently) and another starting pitcher.
  • Rockies lefty reliever Brian Fuentes continues to pique the interest of several clubs, most notably the Yankees, Tigers and Phillies.
  • The Indians have a few left-handed starters vying for the #5 spot in the team’s rotation still: Cliff Lee, Jeremy Sowers and Aaron Laffey. The Cards, Phils and Astros could all be interested in trading for the losers in that battle.
