Phillies Ink LHP Steve Kline
Posted on April 11th, 2008 by Mr. Fleece
The Philadelphia Phillies have signed former Giants LHP Steve Kline to a minor league deal. The Phils have been limited from the left-side in their bullpen, with J.C. Romero as their lone lefty up to this point. Kline was a very solid LHP out of the pen up until 2005, where he began to decline. In 2007, he posted a 4.70 ERA while appearing in 68 games for the Giants. The Phils are obiously hoping the 35 year-old has something left in the tank.
By the way, he looks drunk in this picture, doesn’t he?

He looks like a child molester.
I think he may have been out with Al Reyes prior to this photo being taken, FYI.
LOL Mr. Fleece. That photo screams pedophile. Think the Phillies will DFA Flash to bring him on? That’s what I’d do. That was one of the better Met games I’ve ever been to.
Kline may help these Phillies, he just may have some usage left.
Poor Flash, he has been around and around and allowed to walk from both KC and Boston when they figured he was washed up and surprised everyone, now his time may truly be up..
They were talking about the Phillies’ lack of a second lefthander in the pen during last night’s game. Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling both agreed that you have to have at least two lefties in the pen in the NL East for a match-up standpoint, not just against the Mets (Beltran, Delgado, Church, Schneider), but also the Braves (Teixeira, Chipper, McCann, Kelly Johnson). If Kline has anything left in the tank, he could definitely help this team.
Substitute the Giants’ cap for an irish hat, and he looks dangerous.
