Kyle Snyder Clears Waivers
UPDATE: (4/14) 4:01pm (EST) - According to the Boston Herald, Kyle Snyder has cleared through waivers and has accepted an assignment to AAA Pawtucket.
Kind of surprising here. He’s a guy that can eat some innings, and considering most team’s bullpen woes (Detroit, perhaps?), it’s odd that he passed through. He is making $835,000 this year.
Apr 11th -
Red Sox reliever Kyle Snyder is drawing trade interest from the Tigers, Rays and Phillies, according to Jeff Horrigan of the Boston Herald.
The 6′8 righty was designated for assignment by Boston on Sunday to make room for Josh Beckett (who returned from the DL that day). The Red Sox have until April 16th to trade Snyder or put him on waivers. Snyder is currently at home in Sarasota, Fla., awaiting word.
Snyder was the 7th overall pick by the Kansas City Royals in the 1999 draft, but has never delivered on his potential. Last season was his best in the majors, as the 30-year-old turned in a 3.81 ERA in 54 innings of middle relief for Boston.
Also within Horrigan’s piece, we learn that Bryan Corey will be designated for assignment prior to tonight’s game to create a spot on the active roster for Mike Timlin, who will return from the DL.

Somebody will pick this guy up desperate for a long reliever/5th starter, they may not like the gopher balls he has a habit of allowing at most inopportune times however
Baltimore, Detroit, Philly and SF may be temporary homes for him.
Bryan Corey also got DFA’d yesterday by Boston, he may be a better pickup as a short reliever by Baltimore or Detroit since he can at least get 2 pitches over the plate and get people out.
I think the Tigers, with Willis likely out for the long term, will grab Snyder very quickly. How can they not?
Surprising? The guy sucks. Why would you want him.
This is hilarious. If Snyder can clear waivers, just what about Tavarez? What does that say about him and he’s owed 3.5 million, yet is far worse?
