Off-Field Fleece: Dmitri Young Forced to Cut ‘Fro

According to Charlie Nobles at MLB.com, Washington Nationals first baseman Dmitri “Da Meat Hook” Young was told by manager Manny Acta to clean himself up. The Nationals manager was concerned that Young’s Afro was becoming too much of a distraction, and told him to get it cut following Thursday night’s game. Acta said he requested that Da Meat Hook trim his ‘fro in the interest of team “structure.”

Well, it turns out that Young has a “special barber” that resides in Miami, and the Nationals happened to be playing the Marlins on the road. Acta knew this… hence the timing of the request. Young, who is still on the disabled list, declined to comment on the whole thing.

Man, I’m gonna miss that Afro. Look at it! Friggin thing of beauty. Acta fleeced us all!

Sorta on topic, I’ve always loved this picture of Johnny Damon getting his locks cut too. For a few reasons… one, he sold himself out… two, go to a f*cking barber shop instead of spending the likely $200 you paid for that crap job… three, his hair “stylist” looks like she was alive in the 19th century… and lastly, but certainly not least, his wife is ridiculous. Thoughts about this pic?

  1. Shame the Nat’s are making him cut it, I kinda liked it and hoped he was going to let it get as long as Oscar Gamble’s was back in the 70’s. That guy when he played for the Indians and Yanks in the late 70’s had a HUGE Fro’
