Rollins Sprains Ankle; Goes on DL

UPDATE: (4/20) 5:17pm (EST) - It took a while, but Rollins has finally been placed on the 15-day DL. The Phillies were hoping Rollins would recovery from the sprain more quickly, but it seems to still be hampering the MVP.  It’s the first DL stint of Rollins’ career.

Apr 8th - Phillies’ MVP shortstop Jimmy Rollins sprained his ankle late in Tuesday’s game vs. the New York Mets, and had to leave the game. The injury is not believed to be serious, as Rollins said he could have stayed in the game but “it didn’t make sense” at that point.

The Phillies continued their dominance of the Mets, winning the game 5-2. It doesn’t appear as though Rollins will be missing any significant period of time.

  1. Wow, first Jeter, then Posada, and now Rollins. Maybe something’s going right for the Mets. Or maybe the baseball gods are screwing with us with these minor injuries. Thank goodness we didn’t sign Posada to that crazy five-year deal Omar offered. He certainly wouldn’t have Rocked! if he’d done that. Anyway, let’s hope that the injured players here are ok. We never like to see an injury. Just take your time getting back, Silly Jimmy, alright?

  2. considering that the Mets are under .500 right now. they need something going right for them ;)

  3. If you didn’t think Rollins is a franchise player, all you had to do was watch last night’s game. With Bruntlett fielding grounders like handgrenades, the Phils coughed up a game to the Mets. If Rollins started, there is no way the Phils commit 4 errors and lose 8-2.

  4. And finally, the Great Sillie goes down. Fortunately, the Mets shortstop is tough, even when the fans in Philadelphia booed him when he got up from that freak collision with Utley. Savages.

  5. “The Phillies continued their dominance of the Mets” - What a difference 12 days makes!
