Nationals’ Cordero Examined
UPDATE: (4/25) 4:20pm (EST) - According to mlb.com, there appears to be no structural damage in Cordero’s shoulder. Dr. James Andrews’ examination revealed rotator-cuff tendinitis, which has been causing Cordero’s soreness. He hopes to play catch this weekend, and appear in games once again next week.
Apr 22nd - According to the Washington Post, Nationals’ closer Chad Cordero is set to see orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews in regards to ongoing shoulder issues. Cordero has had major issues with his velocity thus far, and even spent the beginning of the season on the 15-day DL. In a game last week against the New York Mets, Cordero “topped-out” at 80 MPH. Not much difference in his most recent outing against the Atlanta Braves.
Cordero said he felt “fine” after the outing, but when he got to his hotel room he heard a “clicking” in his troublesome shoulder. This can’t be a good sign. He said there was no pain with the clicking, but either way, something is not right.
