Tigers Trade Jason Grilli to Rockies
Posted on April 30th, 2008 by Old Navy King
According to Jason Beck at MLB.com, the Detroit Tigers traded 31-year old reliever Jason Grilli to the Colorado Rockies for 21-year old minor-league prospect Zach Simons, a righty relief pitcher. Grilli has been with the Tigers since the 2005 season. He had a 3.29 ERA in 13 2/3 innings pitched in ‘08.
The trade has opened up a spot for Francisco Cruceta in the Tigers’ bullpen. Cruceta was dominant at Triple-A Toledo in his short stint there this season (7 innings, 2 hits, 1 ER, 15 strikeouts), and should help to stablize the Detroit pen until Rodney and Zumaya can get fully health… IF, they ever get fully healthy.
