Brewers’ Gallardo has Torn ACL
As per Adam McCalvy at MLB.com, Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Yovani Gallardo has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The injury will most likely require surgery, and could put an end to his 2008 season. Gallardo suffered the inury on Thursday, in a collision with Cubs outfielder Reed Johnson near first base. He initially appeared fine afterwards, and even stayed in the game to keep pitching. Said general manager Doug Melvin on the injury, “Pretty devastating. Pretty tough.”
If you recall, Gallardo opened the season on the DL after having surgery on his left knee in Spring Training. To replace his spot on the roster, the Brewers have recalled pitcher Dave Bush from Triple-A Nashville.
