Rockies Sign Glendon Rusch
According to Troy E. Renck of The Denver Post, the Colorado Rockies have signed left-
handed pitcher Glendon Rusch to a minor-league contract. Rusch had pitched for the San Diego Padres earlier this season, but was released after going 1-2 with a 6.41 ERA from the bullpen. With the Rockies however, Rusch will join the his minor-league team’s starting rotation.
Rusch’s agent, Dan Evans, had this to say on the deal, “There wasn’t just one reason we selected Colorado, there were multiple reasons. Glendon has always pitched well in Denver and we believe this is the best opportunity for him.”
The Rockies had been interested in Rusch this past offseason as well, but obviously didn’t end up signing him. The Rox like his versatility, and will likely use him as a long-man and a spot starter down the road. Colorado will be the 6th team that Rusch has played for in his career. He has a career record of 61-96, while sporting a 5.03 ERA.
