Casey Blake Traded to Dodgers

According to ESPN.com’s Jayson Stark, the Cleveland Indians have traded 3B/OF Casey Blake to the Los Angeles Dodgers for 2 minor-league players. The prospects are believed to be catcher Carlos Santana and right-hander pitcher Jon Meloan.

In A-ball, the 22-year old Santana is hit .323 with 14 home runs and 96 RBI, and the 24-year old Meloan is sporting a 5-10 record at Triple-A Las Vegas, to go along with his 4.97 ERA. He does however have 335 K’s in only 262 IP in his minor-league career. Pretty impressive.

As Stark notes, Blake was perhaps the most sought-after outfield bat after the New York Yankees acquired Xavier Nady from the Pirates last night. The New York Mets, Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies were all trying to trade for Blake as well.

  1. Awsome, let’s rot Andy Laroche some more! and give away Meloan, one of their most electric non-Kreshaw arms.

At least they now have some one more “gritty” than Blake DeWitt for Torre to start….

hmmm Blake DeWitt.. .Casey Blake… is Sean Casey next?
